Do you want to earn extra points and be your housekeeper’s favourite client? Keep on reading to learn more tips to make their job a little more enjoyable!

#1 Lower the thermostat temperature during the winter or put the AC on in summer.

We are basically working out in your house for a few hours. Personally, I get warm pretty quickly!

#2 Remove the clutter from countertops.

Use a basket and put all your bottles and makeup from the bathroom counter in it before your cleaner arrives. All the time you pay your housekeeper to move bottles isn’t time used to actually clean.

#3 Let your cleaner use their products and supplies.

Most of us have preferred products, we know how they work and we keep track of our inventory. I can only speak for myself, but I’m sure most housekeepers have a system and have streamlined their cleaning process. Using different products and tools can actually slow us down.

#4 Pay promptly.

Sending an EMT takes 1 minute. Don’t make your housekeeper send you a reminder the next day, please… It’s just awkward. I really believe this is a major (and easy) way to become your housekeeper’s favourite client!

#5 Tip.

If your housekeeper does extra jobs for you without you having to ask. It never goes unnoticed!

#6 Leave the house.

I always feel awkward making noise while someone is home. If you work from home, I can usually work around that but I always prefer when the client is not home.

#7 Give room for creativity

Is your housekeeper good at something in particular, like organizing, deep cleaning or gardening? Why not!

The job can be a bit repetitive and boring after a while so letting your cleaner do different tasks, if they are open to them, is a nice change!

#8 Be flexible

Sometimes your housekeeper might be sick or has a quick dentist appointment and needs to reschedule you or push back by a few hours. Being flexible is a win-win for both of you. Your housekeeper still gets the income and you still get your house cleaned.

#9 It’s a relationship.

Ok this might be a personal take but I always love to get to know my clients and enjoy when they ask about me, too. Show your housekeeper you care about them and are appreciated, and they will enjoy their work a lot more. Human resources 101.

There you have it! A few tips to make your housekeeper’s life a little easier and earn some brownie points!
